Inhalt:
La Louisiane ne constitue certainement pas l'état le plus favorisé des Etats-Unis mais pour le linguiste, elle
peut être considérée comme un eldorado à cause de la multitude de langues qui y sont - ou qui y étaient -
parlées et qui y entrent - ou sont entrées - en contact. Dans le cours, les variétés linguistiques suivantes seront
au centre de l'intérêt:
- le français colonial, désormais éteint;
- le français (a)cadien, d'origine canadienne;
- l'anglais louisiannais;
- le créole louisiannais, créole à base lexicale française;
- l'espagnol 'isleño', provenant des Canaries.
Une triple approche sera appliquée à ces langues en contact:
- une approche historico-diachronique: comment ces variétés linguistiques se sont-elles installées en Louisiane et quel
développement ont-elles parcouru?
- une approche descriptive et structurale: quelles sont les spécificités linguistiques de ces variétés et quels
phénomènes de convergence (entre elles) et de divergence (par rapport au diasystème auquel elles appartiennent) y sont
attestés?
- une approche socio-linguistique: quel est le statut et quelle est la vitalité actuelle de ces variétés linguistiques et
quel future peut-on prévoir à leur propos?

Organisatorisches:
This course will be taught partly in French, partly in English according to the preferences of the students.
Since Spanish will also be treated in the course, students of Hispanic Philology may also participate, as long as they have a sufficent
knowledge of French and English. A good proficiency in English is necessary for all participants because an important share of the relevant
literature is written in this language. Apart from regular presence in the course sessions, a short (max 20 min) oral and multi-media based
presentation on one of the languages and / or subjects to be analyzed in this course will be expected as "Studienleistung". This introductory
presentation, which may be presented by small groups of students, is intended as a basis for further discussion and analysis for which the
student(s) who present(s) provide(s) some additional working material. Short data sessions focusing on corpus texts and language samples are
particularly welcome. The "Prüfungsleistung" consists of a term paper of about 15-20 pages, related to the subject of the oral
presentation or other contents of the course and to be written in either French or English.
