Curriculum Vitae

Academic biography

After my studies in Communication and Media Science at the University of Hohenheim (intermediate diploma), I studied Speech Communication and Linguistics at the University of Halle, where I obtained my diploma in 2004 (Diplom-Sprechwissenschaftler, 'with disctintion'). For my dissertation on "Imagination and Animation" in conversation I received my Ph. D. in Romance Philology at the University of Freiburg (Dr. phil., 'summa cum laude'). Subsequently I worked in several national and international research projects on linguistic variation in spoken and written Spanish and French. I also held positions as coordinator of the DFG Research Training Group on "Frequency Effects in Language" and of the "Hermann Paul School of Linguistics" in Freiburg. At the same University, I obtained my "Habilitation" in Romance Philology in 2018 for a study on "macro constructions" in spoken French. In this study I used a construction grammar approach to model complex adverbial constructions in spoken French, considering both their sedimentation and their online emergence in interaction. Currently I am coordinating a research project on "Body knowledge. Multimodal practices for instructing corporeal-performative knowledge in interaction", supported by a grant from the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts of Baden-Württemberg and the Albert-Ludwigs-University of Freiburg.
