About me

I am an interim professor in linguistics are the Department of Romance Philology at the University of Regensburg. For further information please visit my internetsite there. Otherwise, I am a an assistant professor in linguistics at the Department of Romance Philology at the University of Freiburg (Akademischer Rat a.Z.). My research focuses on language in its context of use, mainly in oral communication but also in written media. I am inspired by interactional, cognitive and usage based approaches in linguistics.

My research interests include:

  • Linguistic structure and social interaction
  • Language variation and change
  • Digital humanities, language corpora, corpus technology

My current projects focus on:

  • Requests for action
  • Knowledge transmission in interaction
  • Pragmatic particles
  • Inferences in interaction and language change
  • Remembering in conversation, fragmented syntax and polyphony


On november 25, 2021 I have been accepted into the "DFG Heisenberg programme". The funding is awared for 3 (+ 2) years.

The title of my project is: "Requests for action in interaction and language change. Resources for mobilizing linguistic and bodily actions at the interface of grammar and pragmatics."
